Included Amenities

The rental includes the "Grand Loft" as well as the cocktail lounge, transition hallway, bridal suite, chef's kitchen, catering prep area, coat room, handicap accessible restrooms for a 10 hour period. Loft on Lake provides up to 15 - 66" rounds as guest tables, 6 various sized rectangular tables, 2 highboys, and 3 black sectional leather lounge couches. We include chandeliers, uplighting, bistro lights, WIFI, a 52" flat screen TV monitor and 2 parking spaces. 1-4 Loft on Lake staff members will be present for every event which includes: a Venue Liaison to oversee vendors and manage the space during your event, Loft on Lake owners and an event photographer.

Catering Requirements

The Loft on Lake team is always available to help with any and all vendor selections and to provide tips and guidance to help achieve a flawless event. Loft on Lake has relationships with some of Chicago’s best event vendors that deliver premium services and products making it easy to facilitate your ceremony and reception. Selecting from our exclusive list of vendors can help you jumpstart your planning process. Simply inquire with one (or many) preferred caterers/vendors for a customized proposal! You can utilize your own resources or take full advantage of the fabulous affiliates that work with Loft on Lake. If you must use a caterer outside of our list, we impose an additional fee, wherein the caterer must be approved by Loft on Lake management and carry the appropriate licensing and insurance as well as abide by our house rules for clean up and operation – inside our space and out.

Tables Provided

Loft on Lake provides rounds, rectangular's and highboy tables! We do not provide chairs, linens, plating or china in your rental. With help from your selected caterer, options for chairs, linens, plating and china for your event is included in customized catering proposals. Typically your caterer will order these necessary additional rentals as well as handle delivery, set-up and pick-up, so you don’t have to!

Cocktail Hour

Our cocktail room is separated from the Grand Loft space. It is beautifully lit by natural light streaming through windows, and lined with elegant chandeliers of different sizes. Cocktail hour falls between ceremony and reception, and this room serves as a transition space while the Grand Loft is flipped. It can serve as a lounge during dinner reception and dancing.

Venue Representatives

When you book your wedding at Loft on Lake, you’ll have a Venue Rep there to assist your vendors. Throughout your planning process, our Rep will be in touch with you and your vendors as well as be present for sign offs on all scheduled deliveries and pickups at the venue. You may request the Rep to be present during on-site meetings with family and/or vendors, at rehearsal and on the day-of.

Deposit Policy

50% of venue rental fee is due at contract signing to reserve your date. The balance is due 4 months after signing the contract or 90 business days prior to the event (whichever is sooner), along with a refundable security deposit of $500.

The Loft on Lake Team

Loft on Lake is family owned and run. The Garrett's are a creative team; photographers, videographers, designers and creative directors. We are able to help guide you through the planning process and help with catering and vendor selections. We've seen hundreds of weddings in our space and know what works! You are free to schedule as many meetings as you like previous to your event as well as ask any questions.

Deliveries & Pickups

We understand how crucial to your time and budget deliveries and pickups can be, so we are flexible! We can work with you and your vendors ahead of time to ensure scheduling for your deliveries and pickups are on the calendar. Clients, event planners and vendors must coordinate with the venue as to when they can enter the space prior to their event. We typically open the space at 11am Monday's thru Saturday's, so please schedule deliveries and pickups after 11am on days we are in the office. Depending on our availability, sometimes we allow for deliveries to arrive a day early and even allow for pick-ups days later - providing event scheduling permits! Email or call us to schedule. 

We have a private parking lot behind the venue, accessible by Fulton St. or Ada St., where deliveries and pickups are received. Our street-level double wide back doors makes the load-in/load-out process very easy! Bring your own dolly with you if you have lots of items. Remember to call ahead of time to make sure we are there to receive the delivery or pickup. We don't have a doorbell in the back, so please walk around to the front and ring the bell or call the office at (312) 738-2437 or Cher's cell (312) 498-9997 and we will let you in.

Lighting

Loft on Lake provides sufficient and romantic lighting included in your rental! ALL lighting included is on dimmer switches. We have numerous chic chandeliers of various sizes hanging in the cocktail room and transition hallway. Strands of cafe/bistro lights hang from the timber rafters in the Grand Loft space. Industrial up-lighting with exposed electrical conduit are positioned surrounding the perimeter of the room. Candles are acceptable (no tapers) as long as candles are housed in glass cylinders/vases. Our preferred event production vendors can provide additional lighting in different focal areas throughout the venue for elegant illumination.

Draping

Decorative draping as a beautiful backdrop for your ceremony or for other purposes is carried out by an event production company specializing in draping services. Loft on Lake does not provide these services but we do have some draping in the space included in your rental. Included is white satin draping at the entryway of the Grand Loft space; a sheer polyester white drape that can be used as a room separator or backdrop; and grey draping covering and surrounding the kitchen area towards the back of the space where the caterers work. We recommend taking a look at our preferred event producers page for event draping.

Decor

On your wedding day you definitely want everything to look polished and immaculate! Hiring a professional event production team, event plannerflorist, and even your caterer to handle specific decor details is highly recommended - and you'll be glad that you did! Decor professionals are exceptional in bringing your vision to life and one less thing for you to worry about. Loft on Lake is DIY friendly and we do our best to accommodate special requests like decor setup scheduling. Please check with us first on your DIY decor plans.

Chef's Prep Kitchen

Your caterer will be utilizing the prep kitchen and additional catering prep room throughout your event. Having the kitchen is a great perk for you and the caterers. Caterers love it because having a kitchen on-site makes their jobs so much easier. It saves you a bit of money too since caterers might need to charge you to bring portable kitchen equipment and food prep appliances. The food is always prepared freshly on-site here at Loft on Lake, a huge advantage! Expose the draped off kitchen to use the large granite island for food display, buffet station, late night snacks or desserts.

Capacity

We can seat 50-175 guests for a formal dinner depending on seating configuration and up to 250 for cocktail style receptions. This includes both ceremonies + receptions which requires a room flip (cocktail room is transition space). Catering and LOL staff will help configure your floor plan. Keep in mind the amount of furniture in the space affects capacity and size of dance floor.

Room Flip

For Wedding Ceremonies & Receptions, we use the cocktail room and transition hallway for guests to enjoy cocktails immediately following the ceremony, while the Grand Loft room is broken down and then setup for Reception. Our preferred Caterers are experienced and trained for the 'room flip' and make the transition look incredibly easy! Your guests will enjoy cocktails, tight-knit conversations and passed appetizers for one hour and they'll be amazed upon entering the Grand Loft Space totally transformed for reception!

Newly Renovated Bridal Suite

Loft on Lake has a large Bridal Suite off of the cocktail room for Bridal party to get ready or freshen up before walking down the aisle. It can be used to store personal belongings, gifts, nursing room for new moms, etc. Newly renovated entry through french doors, includes a countertop vanity and sink, full length mirror, black leather lounge couches, natural light window, chandeliers for soft elegant lighting. Close proximity to Ladies room, the suite is here for the Bride to feel centered and relaxed.

Rental Rates

Contact us for rate information (our rates are private, therefore not listed online). Weddings on Friday's and Saturday's are full 10 hour rentals. Ceremonies & Receptions are not priced differently for one of the other, although we can offer Ceremony-Only on Sunday's for a lesser hourly rental rate. There are no holds, events are first come first serve. Two weeks to book after a tour to benefit from promotions.

Coat Check

Coat check attendants can be arranged through your caterer or with the Loft. Loft on Lake has a newly installed coat room just off the cocktail room next to the Bridal Suite. The coat room includes hangers and a stationary rod, for the option to self-serve. We also have (3) moveable coat racks equipped with hangers for a portable coat hanging option.

Parking

There is ample free street parking surrounding the venue on Lake St., Fulton St., and surrounding side streets. The entire neighborhood, parking is FREE! Our loading zone is reserved for vendors, clients & tours (please park with flashers as city may ticket). For guest parking, there is a paid public parking lot (no association to venue) located behind Loft on Lake with entry on both Ogden and Fulton streets - PARK 1 - 86 spaces in total for $8-$15 per car depending on time of day and hours of use, payable by pay station. A short walk around the McDonald's on the corner and you've arrived at Loft on Lake's front entrance.

Event Scheduling

All events must conclude by 12:00am. A typical timeline for ceremony & Reception we often see on wedding day is:

  • 11am - Loft on Lake opens!
  • 11am-3pm - Vendor delivery window
  • 2-3pm - Caterer arrives and begins setup
  • 4-5pm - Wedding party arrives to venue
  • 5:30pm- Guests arrive (1/2 hour before ceremony)
  • 6pm - Ceremony begins (duration varies)
  • 6:30-7:30pm - Cocktail hour (1 hour after ceremony)
  • 7:45pm - Wedding party announced, welcome speech
  • 7:45-9:45pm - Dinner reception (1.5 to 2 hours long) speeches are timed with dinner courses, cake cutting, ceremonial traditions, special dances, etc.
  • 9:45-11:45pm - Dinner concludes. Desserts, dancing, and photo booth fun begins!
  • 11:45pm - Last call
  • 12am - Event concludes
  • 12-1am - Catering cleans space while guests exit
  • 1:15am - All persons have exited space, Loft on Lake performs a final inspection before closing
Continuing the party? Bars & Restaurants like Bottom Lounge (across Lake St.) is open until 2:30am, Kaiser Tiger and more award winning restaurants on Randolph St. are also great late-night alternatives right in the neighborhood.

Transportation

Typically guests will cab it to and from the venue. Public transportation is also just blocks away from Loft on Lake. The Green/Pink line station at Lake & Ashland is less than 2 blocks West. CTA Bus #9 Ashland is also less than 2 blocks West. The Lake & Morgan Green/Pink line station is less than 8 blocks East. Some of our preferred hotels offer shuttle transportation in their packages! See our list of hotel accommodations and inquire about transportation offered by hotel. Shuttle busses, trolleys, limos, special getaway cars and elderly or handicapped drivers can park right in front of Loft on Lake on Lake St. within our loading zone. Valet is not offered but permitted.

Rehearsals

We allow a complimentary one hour rehearsal with your wedding party the night before your wedding or any day during the week prior to your wedding day (provided the date and time is available).  We recommend scheduling your rehearsal long before the week of your wedding so we can reserve this time for you. If your officiant not experienced and needs assistance during the rehearsal or procession, either a member of your wedding party, planner, or our on-site venue Liaison can extend services to Day-of coordination and take lead.

Live Music or DJs

We welcome all wedding entertainment and music styles of your choice. Wedding Bands, DJ's, quartets, duets, soloists, guitarists, harpists, even pianists (we have a piano on-site you can rent!) We do have a list of recommended music talent in the vendor section you can refer to if you'd like, or feel free to utilize musical talent of your choice! Loft on Lake does not have an internal sound system so DJs and Bands must provide their own sound equipment. Loft on Lake will provide a 6ft table for DJ setups, however we do not provide the linen.

BYO Alcohol

Loft on Lake allows for you to obtain alcohol however you'd like. Whether you've purchased through a liquor store or our caterers, we ask that you coordinate with us when scheduling alcohol delivery to venue so a representative is present to accept the delivery. If you are providing your own alcohol, remember to provide your purchase order listing to your caterer, so they know what alcohol they are working with and what you are supplying so they can supply the remaining bar amenities.

Leftover Alcohol

Since we are BYO you can provide your own purchased alcohol or allow the caterer to provide. Binny's and other Liquor Depot stores may have a delivery and buyback service which is a popular and convenient option. You must coordinate with the venue alcohol drop offs and pickups. You may leave alcohol in the space after your event and pickup remaining items (usually on a Monday given we don't have events scheduled between the end of your event and Monday).

Leftover Food

Any leftover food in the space will be donated after your event unless you'd like to keep. In the event you want to keep leftover food, you must remove all food at the end of your rental period or inform a Loft on Lake representative to hold food overnight until your scheduled pickup after the event (usually on Monday after a Saturday or Sunday event). We assume any food leftover in our fridge is our responsibility to dispose of after your event unless informed otherwise.
